Today is a national “bank holiday”…there are dozens of young kids in the resort here…but, well-behaved ones. And the parents don’t yell at them constantly…delightful.
We have plans to tour Wicklow town and the Usher Gardens nearby…to compare with the Powerscourt Gardens from our first day.
Yesterday, we saw the Black Lake, while we drove through the Wicklow Mountains upland heath and bog land. You can see the brown Gorse down the way…that’s where they dig the peat to make the turf for fires…and to make peat moss.
Our hotel at Druid’s Glen Resort has been just grand. The bellmen have top hats…not too shabby. One is from Donegal (Teague by name) and brought us a map today of places to go while we are in the West. The other top hat man is Oli (from India).
Today’s driver is Lenny Doyle from nearby Wicklow town. We are told that the jail is a good stop (who would know?) And, it is.
Washed out by some rain. As we are looking to make this day a part of our “jet-lag recovery”, we decide we don’t need to walk in the rain to see the Mt. Usher gardens. So Lenny brings us back to Druid’s Glen for a late lunch and later dinner. Off tomorrow to see the McNamara’s in Tullamore.
A few more jail shots as we close for the day. There were many Byrne people in the cemetery at Glendalough and now, more in the Jail in Wicklow. What’s up Kathy and Molly?
Say hi to the McNamara’s for us:)

We will do that for sure…plus, we are supposed to open our secret envelope there, right?
