We roll by many vineyards, some quite famous others just scenic. Leisurely pace is perfect.

Meritage Resort and Spa is a big place in the south of Napa.  We will chill out a bit this afternoon and dine on the premises.  Maybe some wine-tasting as a warm up to our big day with the Beau Wine Tours tomorrow.  VJ, our driver has checked on our schedule and we have our gourmet lunches ordered for our picnic at Robinson Family Vineyards with our good and local friends, Mike and Jill Silvas….Realtors, of course.

  • Hello my old friend; its your old “Gladwyne gangster” buddy Greg Halphen. Brother Tom, aka Rocky, ran across your wonderful web page and I couldn’t resist taking a peek. I relayed the info to Charlie Halberstatd and he tells me via email that he has posted a comment of his own; so, of course, I just had to do the same. 🙂 I put Charlie on a treasure hunt through your journal to find Butch Stafford; he is still searching and I am not providing any hints! After 40 years of no contact, I located Charlie and we managed a brief union a few years ago when he passed through Richmond on his way to visit friends in Norfolk. We managed to squeeze in an all too brief visit touring Wiliamsburg. That was followed by a week in Avalon. I have to admit we both got a bit teary eyed upon our departure. We keep in touch with emails and playing backgammon on line ….. I am certainly the backgammon novice and he the master. I can not conclude this short essay without mentioning the broad smile brought upon my face when viewing that picture of you at the age of 13 standing with your sister and grandmother. Do you still roll up the cuffs of your jeans??? ha ha We all were so blessed to have grownup in Gladwyne during a much more innocent time and to have had such wonderful families and life long friends. I have always defined success as family love and happiness, and loyalty to old friends; we have both have achieved that end.

The best to you and yours, Greg

P.S. We both still have our hair; sadly, I can’t say the same for Charlie. 🙂
