Playing catch-up, since we have been busy as bees here lately.

It’s now Friday morning.  Craig and Susan Scott came over for dinner last night.  They were our original inspiration to visit Chautauqua….it is by their direction that we have now gathered the Staffords for 3 years and the WyBerrys for a 2nd year as our companions.

We forgot to take the group photo…drats.  But, here are some candid shots of our group.

Chip's photo - taken by Justin last week, when I was a little unshaven...apologies, but the photo guy doesn't get many shots of himself.

Here's a cute shot of the Stafford's attempt to get warm on a chilly Chautauqua day at the quad at Hall of Philosophy.

So, instead of covering every speaker we have seen, I’ll just show you our favorites of the Thursday bunch.  All have been outstanding, which is the “usual” for Chautauqua.

Ulrike Guerot, a German zealot for a European Republic, was an intriguing and animated speaker.
Ulrike Guerot, a German zealot for a European Republic, was an intriguing and animated speaker.

Ms. Guerot has an impassioned position regarding the creation of a politically unified Europe and has quit her job to go on tour to promote it.  Her use of medieval art was a novel approach to convincing the world.  (Ask us about her illustration of the Amazon women and their headdresses/bonnets made of bull’s testicles.)

Part of her logic is to show a photo of the European Commission, which has 40 men and 2 women…”I rest my case”, she says while showing the latest Commission group photo.

Here she is after the speech, passing out her postcard (European Union...under Construction).

Time for my shower to get Friday started with Rev. Walters at 9:15, so I’ll publish this one now.
