It’s an attractive invitation from the Moresini brothers, who run the ‘enoteca’ (wine store). Then, at 8PM, their winery-of-the-week (this week it’s Mazzei) provides 3 wines for a four-course meal at one of the Cortona fine dining establishments. This week’s place is our favorite perch for the drum parade of earlier this week -Osteria La Loggetta.
See how long they’ve been making wine? 25 generations…another reminder how young we are in America.
Butch and Louise have staked this out as “their day” this week and are treating all 8 of us…outstanding!
Tim was taking this quite seriously as you can see.
And Butch was going for white, rose, chianti Classico, chianti and Cabernet Sauvignon…and he was really fast making that circuit back to the tasting/pouring table.
It starts with this guy “carving” the giant Mozzarella cheese as a first course for the 100 assembled. Each course had it wine pairing with some delicious food. According to Marco Moresini- by the way, a graduate of Univ. of Georgia, whose young viticulture students were in attendance – this is the only reason to drink wine…to enhance the enjoyment of food.
This course was followed by some Grappa, which tasted to us like “white lightening”…almost midnight.
Buona Sera from Cortona.
