Happy “day after Memorial Day” from Stone Harbor, NJ.

ImageI know that the Italy 2013 trip is over and that Nancy, the birthday lady, is finished the laundry and we planted the vegetables with Justin & Garrett and had wonderful meals, reminiscent of Italy, with Tim & Cindy…but, I just wanted to wrap up with a few photos and some few words.

ImageThese two are in our “Top Ten” list…you know the one where Cindy tells us all to line up and gets a stranger (sometimes a stranger to cameras) to snap us all together.

The top one is from a birthday gala on the huge patio of our room in Rome at the Barocco Hotel near Bernardini Square.  The “kids” put on a show and wrote an epic poem for the Nance.  So, she’s seated in the prime seat for that top photo.  This one is in front of the Trevi Fountain and you can’t tell that…my guess is that a good photo person would have realized that the Fountain was world famous and the Roachs were not…but, bless him, he must have thought that we were having so much fun, we needed to be featured.

ImageA good photo of Nancy and featuring the Hotel, which was a great choice for location, service and funkiness of rooms.

ImageOne of the signals that you’re in a special kind of hotel – one with superb service and a high-quality historic renovation – has to be a key of this kind.  Isn’t it great?  No numbers here at Borgo di Carpiano in Gubbio…each room has a different color ribbon tied to it…that’s all.

ImageHere is the sunset for Saturday night as we returned.  Cindy and Tim had us over for dinner – parmagiano e melon was featured along with a Valpolicella from Piemonte and bottled still water – with the twins to welcome us back.  The sunset started at 8:15 at their house and we were fading fast (that was the equivalent of 2:15AM) so this shot is from our house.
