Photos, explaining the “single track road” thing.

This may show you a bit more about all my whining from the last post.

This is how we were told about it.  It doesn’t compute at first…and, then, you look up and start to notice that there’s only room for your car here.  And, on the island of Mull, we have to go 37 miles to the ferry.


So, here’s kind of what it looks like.  That’s the car dashboard at the bottom of the photo.Image

Here’s the solution..they are called “lay-bys” and the striped pole locates them….right before you have a head-on collision, that’s where you find “home base”.  And, deep breaths…Image…unless a local is behind you.

Enough of that totally uncharacteristic blathering.  Here’s the view, which greeted us from the ferry to Iona.  The island has this one street. Our Argyll Hotel has kind of bright blue trim…among other delightful touches.  More later on this simple island….that’s a good “simple”.
